Gary Lau

Moody’s

Gary Lau is the managing director for Moody’s corporate finance group in Hong Kong.

Lau manages analytical teams in Hong Kong, covering corporate ratings in North Asia ex-Japan. He has extensive experience with Moody’s in analytical and management positions with responsibilities across different industries and geographies.

He has been with Moody’s since 1998. Before joining Moody’s, Lau worked for Barclays Bank and Bank of America in the financial institutions and corporate banking divisions.

Venkat Rao

HSBC

Rao is managing director, debt syndicate and head of local currency and private placements for Asia Pacific at HSBC, based in Hong Kong.

He has over 16 years of experience in debt syndication, structured finance and principal investments in Asia. He joined HSBC Asia syndicate in 2015, specialising in the distribution of private placements, local currency and G3 public bonds to Asian investor markets.

Prior to HSBC, he was with Bank of America Merrill Lynch, which he joined in 2008, holding various positions in Asia debt syndicate, structured finance and principal investment teams.

Madhur Agarwal

JP Morgan

Agarwal runs the debt capital markets origination business for JP Morgan in Asia ex-Japan based out of Hong Kong, and is responsible for both public markets and private financing business across corporate and sponsor clients. He has close to 25 years of banking experience across capital markets, loan syndication, derivatives, and international banking in Asia.

He joined JP Morgan in 2009, working in India and Hong Kong. In 2012, he ran the India DCM business, where he was responsible for both onshore and cross border financing. Prior to joining JP Morgan, he gained experience with Credit Suisse and, before that, ICICI Bank.

Monica Hsiao

Triada Capital

Monica Hsiao is founder and CIO of Triada Capital, a Pan-Asia credit multi-strategy manager based in Hong Kong focused on event-driven and fundamental credit plays in Asia.

Prior to launching Triada, she was last at CQS, a US$14bn+ UK-based hedge fund, in their Hong Kong office, where she spent several years as senior PM and head of Asian credit strategies.

Before joining CQS, Hsiao managed a global credit portfolio as a proprietary trader in London at both Merrill Lynch and Credit Suisse. She started her career in finance as a portfolio manager at Nomura International’s asset investment division in London.

Morgan Davis

IFR Asia (moderator)

Morgan Davis is IFR Asia’s bond editor, based in Hong Kong. She started at IFR Asia in October 2021, after previously covering financial markets for GlobalCapital, Asiamoney, NexChange and FundFire in Hong Kong and New York.

IFR Asia has a team of reporters and editors in Hong Kong, Singapore, Tokyo, Beijing, Melbourne and Mumbai, covering onshore and offshore capital markets transactions across Asia Pacific.
