MOVES - Barclays hires Kolz to co-head ECM

 | Updated:

Barclays has hired former Credit Suisse and Goldman Sachs banker John Kolz as global co-head of equity capital markets, based in New York.

Kolz will be co-head alongside Tom Swerling, who is based in London and has led ECM since 2023. Kolz will report to Travis Barnes and Tom Johnson, global co-heads of capital markets.

Kolz joins from RBC Capital Markets, where he has been co-head of global ECM since 2023. He joined RBC in September 2022 after 10 years at Credit Suisse, including as co-head of Americas ECM origination, according to his profile on LinkedIn. He started his career in 1997 at Goldman Sachs where he spent 13 years, including as co-head of equity syndicate, followed by two years at Lazard.

Barclays has targeted winning market share in ECM as a strategic priority, part of a three-year plan set out in October for the investment bank.
