Ulemj Bashkuu

Mongolian Mining Corp

Ulemj Baskhuu is the Chief Financial Officer of Mongolian Mining Corporation and Energy Resources LLC, a position she has held since August 2013. In this role, she is responsible for all aspects of the group’s finance functions including accounting, tax, financial planning, liquidity and asset management, investor relations and corporate strategy.

Ms. Baskhuu joined the group in 2008 after holding various senior positions at the Trade and Development Bank of Mongolia and Khan Bank.

Felipe Duque

Allen & Overy

Felipe Duque is a partner in Allen & Overy’s international capital markets group. He advises corporate and financial institution clients on offerings of high yield, convertible and investment grade debt, liability management transactions, initial public offerings, follow-ons, block trades and other strategic equity investments. He also has significant experience advising sovereign issuers and state-owned enterprises on capital markets transactions and private equity groups on M&A.

Leo Hu

NN Investment Partners

Leo Hu is the co-lead portfolio manager for emerging market debt hard currency strategies at NN Investment Partners, the Dutch fund manager with US$345bn under management. Based in Singapore, he is responsible for all global sovereign and quasi-sovereign debt strategies for NN IP’s hard currency EM debt portfolios.

Hu joined NN IP in the Netherlands in 2008 and joined the EM debt team in 2009. He is a Chartered Financial Analyst and a Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst.

Sonor Luvsandorj

Republic of Mongolia

Sonor Luvsandorj is director of financial markets and insurance division at Mongolia’s Ministry of Finance, responsible for capital market, insurance, banking and non-bank finance policies. He also handles the government’s external funding programme, including a number of bond issuances and negotiations with the International Monetary Fund. He is also chairman of the Mongolian Central Securities Depository, and sits on the board of the Mongolian Stock Exchange, among other positions.

Maryam Abdul Nasir

Republic of Maldives

Maryam Abdul Nasir is the chief debt management executive, heading the Debt Management Department of the Ministry of Finance of the Maldives. She has been working in the Ministry since 2009 in various positions in the Resource Mobilization and Debt Management Department, and has been heading the department since 2018. She also sits on the Maldives Pension Administration Board and has also been the Chairperson of the National Tender Board of the Government.

Florian Schmidt

Frontier Strategies

Florian is the founder and CEO of Frontier Strategies, a boutique financial consultancy specialising in Asia’s frontier markets since 2017. He set up the firm after 24 years as a debt capital markets banker in Hong Kong and Singapore, and has advised on debt issuance and liability management exercises including the Government of Mongolia’s US$600m 5.5-year new issue and tender offer, which won IFR Asia’s Frontier Markets Issue of the Year in 2020.

Anushka Shah

Moody’s Investors Service

Anushka Shah is a vice president in Moody’s Sovereign Risk Group, based in Singapore. She covers a number of countries in Asia Pacific, including Malaysia, Indonesia, Vietnam, Taiwan, the Maldives and Mongolia. Prior to joining Moody’s, Anushka worked for more than seven years at Citi Investment Research in Bombay, where her focus was on the South Asian economies. Anushka has a Master’s in Economics and Finance from the University of Warwick and a Bachelor’s in Economics from the University of Bombay.
